Our research directions focus on the following four core areas, aiming to resolve the complex conflicts between marine resource utilization, environmental protection, and national security through interdisciplinary methodologies:
- – Gray Zone Behavior Research: Analyzing maritime conflict strategies (e.g., China's gray zone operations in the Taiwan Strait and South China Sea) and their impacts on fisheries and sovereignty.
- – Maritime Law Enforcement Technology: Researching how to utilize marine science and technology to assist maritime law enforcement, combating Illegal Sand Pumping and IUU fishing.
- – Marine Spatial Planning (MSP): Conducting alignment analysis between offshore wind energy and other renewable energy development with the national spatial planning system, exploring multi-objective conflicts in spatial planning.
- – Emerging Conservation Mechanisms: Researching the policy implementation of Other Effective area-based Conservation Measures (OECMs), promoting biodiversity monitoring and habitat protection.
- – DPSIR Framework Application: Applying the "Driving forces-Pressures-State-Impacts-Responses" (DPSIR) assessment model to analyze anthropogenic pressures on marine ecosystems.
- – Blue Economy & Regional Revitalization: Exploring blue economy practices based on local DNA, connecting local and central governments to jointly promote marine regional revitalization.

OGMSL is committed to bridging the gap between "scientific research" and "policy practice." Through long-term industry-government-academia collaboration and international academic publications (such as Marine Policy, Frontiers in Marine Science, etc.), we aspire to provide critical policy recommendations for national marine spatial management, resource governance, and maritime law enforcement, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to safeguard the long-term stability and prosperity of our oceans.
